Dining Services

Spacious dining rooms! A warm and friendly atmosphere! Excellent meals and service! Choices and great flexibility! These are just some of the highlights of Cathedral Village’s dining program.

In the mid 80s, Cathedral Village took “retirement community dining services” into the 21st Century, establishing a 12-hour day dining program that provides more choices and greater flexibility for residents. Those choices include our:      

Fireside Café – a favorite place to gather in casual attire for      

• Freshly cooked breakfasts served from 7:30 to 9:30 and lighter fare until 11:00.      
• A hot lunch, cold buffet or a personal mix of both from Noon to 1:30.      
• Cold buffet from Noon to 2:00 and sandwiches or ice cream until 4:00.      
• Dinner with hostess seating and uniformed wait staff from 4:45 to 7:15.      
• Purchase of Deli and small grocery items during mid-morning, mid-afternoon and early evening at posted times.      
• Carry out of a full lunch or dinner when spending an evening at home is preferred.  

    
Atrium Dining Room - open for weekday and Sunday dinners; and for weekday luncheon parties of six or more.      

Shearer Room - a formal dining room for evening dinner on weekdays and mid-day dinner on Sundays. Residents and guests are required to follow a dress code.      

Sheffield Room - a gracious private dining room for parties up to 25. Larger parties are accommodated in the adjacent Presser Lounge or Shearer Room, depending on the time of day.

By employing our own Executive Chef, Sous Chefs and managers, we are able to purchase quality food from the best vendors; and, train our young and energetic wait staff to our philosophy of care and quality service.

Weekly menus are planned with a variety of selections that change from day to day but always appeal to the individual tastes and appetites of residents and their guests. Residents’ special dietary preferences or needs are accommodated, including vegan and gluten-free diets.
 
Especially important for residents and staff, we can implement new techniques and ideas without delay:

• Catering Services were expanded when more residents expressed a desire to have family gatherings and parties catered in their apartments.       
• The very successful Gourmet Grill Saturday night dinners on the outdoor patio was an idea presented to management by our enterprising Sous Chef.

 Some things have never changed. Our Monthly Fee still includes:       

• Three meals a day, although residents who prefer fewer meals a day receive monthly credits.       
• Tray Service to residents’ apartments when ordered by the Medical staff.       
• Valet service to dinner every day, when medically necessary.
