Welcome to Cathedral Village

Cathedral Village, a nonprofit and nondenominational Continuing Care Retirement Community, is accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC), which is the nation’s only accrediting agency for Retirement Communities.  In 2003, the CCAC was acquired by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities  known internationally as CARF.

Accreditation assures all present and future residents that Cathedral Village conforms to the highest standards of excellence in care and services.  The CARF-CCAC organization awards accreditation only to those retirement communities that meet or exceed their exceptional standards, which are developed according to the participation of all parties involved, including consumers and payers.

In the process of accreditation, the Board of Directors, management, staff and residents of Cathedral Village undergo an extensive self study of standards that cover all aspects of Governance and Administration, Finance, and Resident Health and Wellness.

Initially accredited in 1984, the process has been repeated every five years since 1987.  Fewer than one percent of retirement communities in the United States have been accredited five times.

Cathedral Village is a member of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC, that promotes honest, affordable care for Aging America.  AAHSA represents the concerns of 5,300 not-for-profit organizations that serve retirees at the federal level through interaction with Congress and federal agencies.  Cathedral Village is a strong proponent of AAHSA’s Quality First program.

PANPHA is the Pennsylvania association that represents over 320 nonprofit organizations that are committed to the future of senior services.  They maintain the ability to help members of the association provide valuable care through housing, health care, and community services.  It represents the interests of nonprofit communities at the state level.

Bishop White Lodge, our Skilled Nursing Facility, is fully licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is certified for Medicare and Medicaid. Annual surveys by federal and state agencies are conducted throughout Bishop White Lodge and are augmented by our internal quality assurance program.
